Imagine a place on earth that is surrounded by lush forests, where the birds sit outside if your window every morning to greet you with a beautiful melody. A place where deers, squirrels and foxes run through your garden and a athmosphere where you can even hesr the slightest sound in a distance, because all the modern noises are blocked out. Here in my home everything is a bit slower and more mindful.

Growing up, there was only 5 kids in my age range and we all knew each other like brothers and sisters. We built tree houses, created small caves in giant thorn bushes and collected herbs and flowers to decorate it all. We used to create wood swords from sticks and made show fights between each other as time pass activity. Our favorite childhood game was police and robbers, chasing each other trough the lush and peaceful landscape. The local farmers in the area let us pick their cherries and apples and gave us many organic food items as gift for our dest parents. There is a local restaurant called Rührberger hof that used to let us get ice cream for free after running for hours through the forest. We did not worry and had the best childhood.

As I grew older, we started to cycle and explore more of the forest around us, going deep into its core to experience the beauty. One of our favorite dare challenges was to pet a bumblebee and we all became very skilled in it, till this day i pet bumblebees as if they were part of my family. They are so tiny and fluffy, just adorable.

The Rhein is very close by and so in the summers we used to swim in the current, it made us kids all strong and reliable swimmers. The favorite part was jumping in behind the Wyhlen Kraftwerk and letting the strong currents carry us to the boarders of Basel.

Today non of my childhood friends live here anymore, as there were not many opportunities to gain high paid work. They will always hold a special spot in my memory as they made my early years truly unforgettable.
